I am always a little saddened by art that cannot be preserved forever, or for at least, a long time. The effort that goes into making ice sculptures, sand castles, or cake decorations, is probably as much as in any other art but it soon is gone forever, but that does not mean we cannot enjoy it while it lasts, and there is always video.
