After eating a really bad lunch buffet at Tamarind Bay in Cambridge, MA the other day I literally swore off never to touch Indian food again. But as they say, you should never say never. This weekend I was hoping to grab some delicious Vietnamese lunch at the Pho Republique on Washington Street and even got a free parking spot right across the street. Guess what, when I walked to the restaurant, I realized that they were not open for lunch. Sadly enough, most restaurants in South End were closed for lunch. That is when I decided to walk to Tremont Street to eat at Masa, my favorite, but the waiting time there was more than an hour. Starving and nowhere to go, I saw that Mela was packed but they seated us right away. I have to say that while their dosa was awful, overall it was a great lunch buffet for just $13. I am not sure I will drive just for the buffet (I have a similar option at the Bollywood Grill in Natick) but if I am about to die due to starvation in that part of the world, I will eat there again.
