Vantage Deluxe World Travel fraud
Beware of a company called Vantage Deluxe World Travel, a large tour operator based in Boston that markets to seniors, according to an article in the Times. Or if you book, get an attorney first (it other words, don’t use them). They are a bunch of crooks that use fine print to screw you.
Some great stats from Blow at the Times about how so-called Christian...

Saturation with Michael Jackson TV coverage
I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, love his music, admire him as an artist, and very sad to see him go, but death is a definite outcome for us all, sooner or later. It is a moment of mourning for all his fans, but gee, the way television channels have stopped everything and covering the death 24-7 is disgusting.

Poem for a crush
I am the one who imagines What can or cannot be Who feels what you can feel When the sunrise see your eyes I am the one who imagines What a nice and sweet sensation Of your lips smiling at me Of your eyes gazing at me I am the one who imagines Though I’ve never seen your face

Poem for a beautiful girl
You don’t look like a working girl You are like a princess to me You always dress in the very best like your going to a party But who can know your heart? You move so smooth and touch so well Your kiss is warm and you never tell Who can know your heart? So I dream about you still living life upon that hill Giving love to everyone Must be a lot of fun But then I think who can know Who can...

Why bother about Iran?
No doubt Iran is our enemy and Iranians probably hate our guts, but aren’t all Iranian politicians the same as far as we are concerned? Even Democrats and Republicans are fairly alike in their core foreign policies? That is just the reality of politics. Of course, elections in Iran were rigged (remember that just before Saddam Hussain was taken out by us he too won the elections by a...
Date with the other woman
I am not a big fan of chain emails but I do open them when the come from a close friend. This one touched my heart because my mother is a widow too.
After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said I love you but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you. The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was...

Creative ideas of protest by Greenpeace
In a front-page ad in today’s International Herald Tribune, the leaders of the European Union thank the European public for having engaged in months of civil disobedience leading up to the Copenhagen climate conference that will be held this December. “It was only thanks to your massive pressure over the past six months that we could so dramatically shift our climate-change...

I smile every day
Today has been a slow but relaxing day. I have been talking with a guy friend that lives in France and he had said a few sweet comments like: you are such a great, funny American with so much heart and sympathy. He said that there are not a lot of girls out there that can make a complete stranger laugh or even carry a smile like you can. That really made my day.
From Star Tribune: Ariel Wade rolled into the drive-through at the 24-hour White Castle, one block from the State Capitol. Wade rolled away “madder than fish grease” after the staff refused to hand over any burgers. The reason: She was riding in an electric mobility scooter. The drive-throughs are for licensed motor vehicles only. White Castle says it’s a safety measure...

I just don’t want to be that jackass but I would love to still have a girl like Paris Hilton. Bimbo she might appear to be but she sure has her priorities straight.

Email from a non-native speaker of English
Wow, I was imagining your house, it’s quite big, isn’t it? Is it just like the houses in San Fransisco? I bet it’s lovely. I want to have my own house someday. It would be fun to decorate the house the way I wanted. I love houses with a wooden floor, and a place to read near a wide window; it is a must! A little garden also would be so nice. Last weekend I went out with my high...

Girl who does not like chocolate
Maybe you would be surprised but I always loved the houses in San Fransisco. They are lovely and the view also amazed me. Yes, my dream house is just like you’ve mentioned. I could stay all day long just doing my favorite things. Maybe someday I could go to San Fransisco. I’ve also spent my weekend reading and writing and I enjoyed it so much. I didn’t get to go out with my...

Bill O'Reilly kills George Tiller
According to the Times, “Mr. O’Reilly once sent a producer to ambush the doctor at his home in Kansas. After the producer told him that some people called him a “baby killer,” the doctor tried to leave his house and called 911. The camera crew ended the confrontation. On Monday, Media Matters for America, a left-wing group that catalogs what it calls “conservative hate speech,” published a...

Control theory
missmmhmm:
discovering the feed of satisfaction.
satisfaction is pleasure.
and pleasure is control.
control in the pleasure and pain.
a life in black and white, there is no room for gray.
if there is pain, then make it. and if there is pleasure, then take it.
there is no control in the gray.
and the satisfaction is relative.
there is pleasure in the pain, and pain in the pleasure.

Christian Lacroix bankrupt
The Times Reports, “Christian Lacroix, the French couturier whose artistic and exuberant pouf dresses propelled him to fame in the 1980s, became the latest victim of the global financial crisis Thursday as the U.S.-owned fashion house bearing his name filed for court protection from creditors.”
Hmmm….where am I gonna shop now?

Has Senator Harry Reid lost his mind?
“REID: I’m saying that the United States Senate, Democrats and Republicans, do not want terrorists to be released in the United States. That’s very clear.
“QUESTION: No one’s talking about releasing them. We’re talking about putting them in prison somewhere in the United States.
“REID: Can’t put them in prison unless you release them.
“QUESTION: Sir, are you going to clarify that a little bit?...

Stupid Joe Barton
There is nothing wrong with opposing efforts to fight global warming if you are greedy, paid by oil companies to deny it, or don’t care about the planet. What is terrible is if you are member of United States Congress and oppose any efforts to fight climate change because you are ignorant and stupid. Why is it that the Republican party attracts only morons?

I want to pay for reading New York Times
I have already declared my intention not to pay for Wall Street Journal if it starts charging, but I like the idea that the New York Times is considering (details below). After all, I do listen frequently to NPR and feel great making a donation each year. I would love the idea of having my own page on the Times website where I can post my commentary and provide links to my blogs.

How to get high during Barcelona vacation?
The Superior Council of Scientific Investigations, a government institute in Barcelona, Spain, said on its Web site Thursday that in addition to cocaine, they found trace amounts of amphetamines, opiates, cannabinoids and lysergic acid _a relative of LSD _ in two air-quality control stations, one in each city. But it said there was no reason for alarm. “Not even if we lived for a thousand...

I will never read Wall Street Journal again
Jeff Jarvis writes about WSJ’s plan to ask for micropayments to read the Wall Street Journal. Like him, I would never pay to read anything on the Web. He says, “So if the Journal brings on micropayment, I fear for them that they’ll lose doubly. They’ll lose my subscription. They’ll lose my even occasional readership and the ad revenue that can come with that. They will, in a cruel...
